Bundle of Words

Hello. I am Samantha Tran and these are a few of my pieces. Enjoy!

Flames: Found poem (4/23)

(Originally by Roisin Madden in ¨The Throes¨)

I used to think I needed you

more than I needed myself.

you came into my broken palace,

where healing, love, lost,

secrets among my broken lived.

you came into my broken palace

to dance and sing.

I believed in our truth and love

bound myself

tethered myself

to your wrists

to your side

and for you I lived

understand,

never did I pretend

never did I pretend alone

and I gave you my heart

over and over

how or why

you took so easily what i held so dear

did you care

but I still let you

I see now

for all that you are

you were only sometimes

that fades faster than fire

Fault: Pantoum (4/29)

why won’t you listen to me

listen to the way I feel

drowning in my fight against alone

I just want you to come back

listen to the way I feel

worrying that i’ve been replaced

I just want you to come back

I´m sorry

worrying that I’ve been replaced

drowning in my fight against alone

I´m sorry

why won’t you listen to me

A Void: Villanelle (1/13)

felt like I was missing a part of me

creation of darkness because stolen

but was it because of him, my father?

wishing for his presence, but who’s presence?

I didn’t even know who he was, still

felt like I was missing a part of me.

I tried to find the light in the darkness

I begged and begged for my dad to come back

but was it because of him, my father?

met him again at age 11, stroke

remember feeling filled with joy , but still

felt like i was missing a part of me.

there is mystery to the incomplete

even after I saw my dad again

but was it because of him, my father?

it’s not him, but the idea of it

think he’s easy to blame for everything.

felt like I was missing a part of me

but was it because of him, my father?
