How To: Travel During the Holidays

Are you struggling with packing, or even accepting the fact that you will be visiting family that you don’t want to see? It is all going to be okay, trust me. I know the feeling. From struggling to pack to the stress of being at the airport during the busiest time of year, traveling is extremely frustrating and I am here to tell you, “You are not alone.” Packing and getting ready for a trip doesn’t have to be dreadful.

This article will get into important advice for making your holiday travels run smoothly.

First, I recommend to check the weather. If you are going to Ohio during Christmas, bring a nice big jacket and some soft sweaters to keep you warm. Mexico, bring a bathing suit and your sandals. It is always good to be prepared for anything so, bring extras of what you think are necessities, maybe extra underwear or an extra pair of pants. Having more than what is needed is better than having to put up a lot of money for a single item.

Next, make a checklist. A checklist is organized and helpful because you can categorize your belongings from shirts, pants, under garments, toiletries, shoes and also your carry on. In order to pass time, do not forget entertainment: books, coloring books, and tablets! Also bring that stuffed animal that you have had since you were four, just to remind you of home. Traveling is tough and can be straining on your physical and mental heath. You can even take 30 minutes to yourself to take a break from the craziness that can surround your family.

Traveling can have negative effects, which include a lack of sleep, acne, changing of schedules, changing of time zones and weather patterns. These changes can have harmful effects on your body.

You can get irritable, cranky or depressed, and these can lead to you being at a higher risk for sickness. A cold isn’t the worst, but it is another thing to worry about when you are traveling. Breathe, take a step back, and remove yourself from tense situations.

Traveling can be a mixed experience with both ups and downs. With that being said, traveling can still be a lot of fun when you are healthy and ready to smile for the family pictures. It is also better when you come prepared and know how to take care of yourself first.
