Early in may, a high school senior Jose Bautista, 18, was accused of hacking into the schools computer system to change other students grades for money. The school’s principal called the police after he found out the alleged grade changing happened. Bautista is currently facing eight felony charges including intellectual property offenses. He was scheduled to graduate in just a couple weeks and now is suspended. His bail is set at $20,000.
His mother and grandfather say he is a good kid but his record shows otherwise. Besides facing suspension from school he is facing criminal charges and an on going investigation. His attorney says that Bautista can be going to jail for a long time if he is found guilty of all charges. For now the prosecution will have to actually find proof of the changes to school grades. The grade changes were for himself and four other students.
