Former iconic  World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Superstar James Brian Helwig, better known as the “Ultimate Warrior,” passed away Tuesday evening just days after he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.  The former WWE champion died at the age of 54 at approximately 5:50 pm Tuesday evening, while walking to his car outside of his Arizona hotel, where he suddenly collapsed.  He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Throughout his lustrous career, he has attained the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWF) Intercontinental Championship twice and the WWF Championship once.  He has had many classic feuds with Andre The Giant, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Sgt. Slaughter, The Undertaker, and last but not least, “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan.

Helwig legally changed his name to “Warrior” in 1993.  After retiring from professional wrestling in 1999, Warrior became a motivational speaker, supporting conservative, right-wing views.  He also published a book in 1996 titled, Warrior.  In his book, he talks about his personal views on politics, sexuality, patriotism, and his personal story of his professional wrestling career.

According to ABC News, it was noted today that Warrior’s cause of death was cardiovascular disease.  There were no reports of foul play.

Many of Warrior’s friends, whom he had wrestled with in the past commented on his sudden death.  WWE Owner and Chairman, Vince McMahon, stated, “We are all so sad that the Ultimate Warrior has passed away.  Our heart is with his wife, Dana, and his two daughters.”  Jake “The Snake” Roberts stated he was, “Deeply saddened.  We just had a great talk and buried a senseless hatchet.  Talked working together.  RIP Warrior.  Taking solace we made peace.”  “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan himself stated, “RIP Warrior…only love… We talked, both forgave each other, we hugged, we shook hands as we told each other I love you, I am so sad, God bless his beautiful family.”
