Robin Thicke and Paula Patton have split up after eight years of marriage.

The couple reportedly had issues when Thicke’s popular hit music video for “Blurred Lines” featured him with topless women in the x-rated version of the music video.  After the controversial x-rated release of “Blurred Lines”, Thicke appeared at the 2013 VMA’s to perform his hit single.  He appeared with Miley Cyrus, who began to “twerk” on him while singing the chorus of “Blurred Lines”.  Little did anyone know that this little occurrence would be something that would be talked about for years to come.  Wife, Paula Patton, was outraged by this and reportedly felt “utterly disrespected”, according to TMZ.com.  What outraged Patton the most about the antics of Miley and her husband was that it was totally unplanned and a surprise.  Cyrus apparently improvised while singing and dancing with Thicke and what enraged Patton the most was that Thicke went along with it the whole time.  Some sources report that Patton just completely lost it when photos of Thicke grabbing a woman’s bottom at a concert after-party surfaced.

Things didn’t seem to get any better for Thicke and Patton.  They were constantly fighting and arguing, as Thicke continued to go to after-parties and clubs with various women, with whom he took many pictures.  The couple mutually stated in an interview with TMZ, “We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”  Thicke has reportedly tried to save their relationship numerous times but things degraded to the point where they mutually filed for divorce.
