Flappy Bird is a frustrating and addictive new smartphone game. It is very popular! Currently it is the most downloaded free game on the iPhone and Android market. The game looks very simple and easy, but it can actually be very difficult and frustrating.
Flappy Bird involves a 8-bit bird which is controlled by tapping the screen. Each time the screen is tapped, the bird moves or “flaps” up each time. The goal of the game is to navigate this bird through a course of pipes. Each time the bird passes the gap between the pipes one point is gained. If the player hits any of the pipes the game is over and the bird falls to the ground.
Vietnamese Developer Dong Nyugen at Dotgears Studios created this game in two to three days and did not promote or advertise it in any way after its release. The game was released in May 2013, but reached the top most downloaded free smartphone game in the middle of January 2014.
There have been over 543,000 reviews on the Apple App Store and 228,000 on the Android Market. The average rating for the game is 4/5 stars.
