If you are disappointed about the new Playstation 4 not being capable of playing older Playstation games, then you are about to be very happy about Sony announcing a new service called Playstation Now.

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, Sony made this announcement at Las Vegas in the Consumer Electronics Trade Show. Playstation Now will allow users access to play Playstation 1, Playstation 2, and Playstation 3 games on multiple types of devices including the Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, Sony Bravia Televisions and mobile devices.

Over a year ago, Sony purchased the company Gaikai for $380 million. Gaikai is a cloud streaming service company, and Sony’s decision to acquire this company caused speculation of them starting a streaming network of Playstation 2, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita games.

Sony’s Playstation Now has created an advantage for the Playstation 4 over Microsofts’s Xbox One, a rival game console which has no backwards compatibility at all. This will have a major impact because fans of previous Playstation games can now enjoy them on the new Playstation 4 console, which can boost sales and revenue for Sony.
