Oceana’s Kapamilya and Interact clubs along with NAFCON (National Alliance for Filipino Concerns) are having a fundraiser to help support people of the Philippines who were affected by the Typhoon that happened on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. They are asking for any small donation to help support relief efforts. Please donate during advisory or in Room 213. All donations will be sent directly to Bayanihan Alay sa Sambayanan or BALSA (People’s Cooperation for the people), a national grassroots relief and rehabilitation organization that works directly with affected communities. If making a donation by check, it should be made out to “St. George Fontana” with “Oceana HS/NAFCON Bayanihan Relief” in the memo line. For more information on how to donate visit NAFCON’s website that is highlighted above.
The FAME advisory will also be having a fundraiser that will be happening after school in Oceana’s little theater on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be performances from the Oceana Chorus and the music club, followed by an open mic. There will also raffle with lots of goodies. Donations will be collected at the door. People who are able to donate for the cause will receive a raffle ticket. Snacks will be available for purchase. For more information about the event ask Mr. Cruickshank or any of the FAME advisory students.
