Dear Fleeting Friend

Dear Annie,

I feel like my best friend and I are drifting apart. Ever since we started high school, we’ve just had different interests that don’t really allow us to hang out anymore. We’ve been best friends for years and I don’t want to lose this person’s friendship. But I don’t think we’re the same people anymore. What should I do? How do I fix this? Should I even try?

Fleeting Friend

Dear Fleeting Friend,

It is actually quite common that this happens between friends when they enter high school. High school is a whole different experience. Both of you are going to meet new people and get super close with them, if you have different classes it might be hard to stay in touch. I think that you should really try to fix it because they are your best friend and it would be really sad to know that all those years of friendship just went to waste. Talk to your friend and find out what is going on and how they feel.  If you talk it out then you will be able to fix whatever is actually going on. I really hope everything works out!
