Jason Van was the Singles One tennis player last year. But this year, his younger brother, Richard Van, has taken over that position.

Richard has been playing the sport of tennis for about 6 years. Jason wanted to try it out, so he decided to try it out with him. “I loved it ever since,” adds Richard.

The thing that motivates him to get better is the passion of the sport and meeting new people while he’s playing. He contributes a lot to the team, like great leadership skills and his positive attitude during his matches. He tries to win every match but in the end, win or lose, he will come out with good sportsmanship.

Richard really looks up to Roger Federer. Federer is ranked No.3 in the ATP. Federer is one of the world’s best tennis players and Richard hopes to play the way he does.

In the future, Richard sees himself becoming a tennis coach or playing the sport in college. Richard’s friends and fellow teammates said they see Richard becoming a professional tennis player because he has the right attitude and potential.

When asked why he thinks he was nominated player of the month, Richard stated, “Maybe because of my great sportsmanship and great leadership skills.” Richard also admitted that “I feel honored that I got player of the month and it feels amazing knowing that my skills are being acknowledged.”
