NFC Championship Game Recap

The San Francisco 49ers traveled to Atlanta, Georgia for the NFC Championship game. It was an anticipated matchup between the two teams in which Colin Kaepernick and Matt Ryan faced each other. Kaepernick, having started only eight games after replacing Alex Smith in week nine of the season, had big publicity going into the game after his big win over the Green Bay Packers. Breaking a quarterback record with 181 rushing yards, running for two touchdowns, and throwing two touchdown passes. In the First quarter of the game, the Falcons had a big lead of 17 to 0 and the 49ers’ defensive backs could not stop the Atlanta Falcons’ passing game, but in the second quarter the 49ers began to fight back with a LaMichael James and Vernon Davis touchdown to bring them close to a17 to 14 game. However the Falcons came back again to take a 24 to 14 lead going into Halftime. In the Second half, the 49ers defense shut down the Falcons’ offense and the 49ers began to score with Frank Gore, who had two rushing touchdowns, and the 49ers held off Matt Ryan and Tony Gonzales to win the game by overcoming a 17 to 0 deficit which was a record for an NFC championship game. The 49ers are headed to the Super Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana against the Baltimore Ravens.
